Is there anything the iPad can’t do? An application called Speak Dolphin is now being used by Dolphin Discovery’s swim team in Puerto Adveturas, Mexico, on Merlin, a two-year-old bottle-nosed dolphin in hopes the communication gap will be bridged between man and scarily intelligent porpoise. The app uses symbol recognition techniques in order to teach the dolphin how to express itself. Merlin uses his rostrum (elongated beak) to press the symbols on the iPad’s touch surface in attempt to turn us humans into ‘Dolphin Whisperers’.

If there’s ever a webcam that will make you want to get scuba-certified in a hurry, this is surely it. This live feed, which can be refreshed up to every two seconds on a speedy connection, provides an underwater view of the Bonaire National Marine Park in the Antilles islands. The cam is located 15 meters below the drop-off at the “Something Special” dive site. It offers a particularly clear glimpse of the marine world, thanks in part to the instructors and dive masters from Bonaire who help to keep the lens clean.
]]>Pensacola, Florida (CNN) -- As the "H2O Below" charter boat leaves the dock and heads into Pensacola Bay, it is chock full of divers.
But there's not a single paying client aboard.
The boat is carrying a team of local dive industry professionals -- along with an underwater cameraman -- who arranged Wednesday's trip to show that the Gulf oil spill has not affected the prized dive site, the USS Oriskany.
"We're going to go out look at the ship, assess the marine life on it and find that there's no oil anywhere around," said Jim Phillips, who owns a dive shop in the area.
